1. Diagnostic Hysteroscopy A procedure allowing the doctor to look into the uterine cavity to rule out conditions such as fibroids, polyps, congenital anomalies of the uterus or scar tissue.
2. Hysteroscopic Myomectomy This video demonstrates removal of a fibroid located within the uterine cavity The fibroid is the round structure with prominent blood vessels responsible for the heavy bleeding and infertility. The fibroid is resected utilizing a Resctoscope which has a wire loop at the end cutting the fibroid into pieces until the entire fibroid is removed.
3. Hysteroscopic Polypectomy A short video demonstrating the removal of a small polyp from the uterine cavity utilizing a specialized "loop" cutting instrument - resectoscope. The uterine cavity is normal following the polyp's removal.
4. Diagnostic Laparoscopy An excellent video demonstrating how a laparoscopy is performed to evaluate the uterus (note a small fibroid appearing as a bulge in the uterus), fallopian tubes and ovaries. Blue dye is injected into the uterus, entering the fallopian tubes and spilling from the end of the tubes into the abdominal cavity, confirming that both tubes are open.
5. Laparoscopic Salpingectomy A video demonstrating the removal of a blocked fallopian tube (hydrosalpinx) in preparation for In Vitro Fertilization (IVF). This procedure is necessary to prevent inflammatory fluid collection within the tube from entering the uterine cavity and interfering with the process of implantation.
6. Laparoscopic Myomectomy A video showing removal of two fibroids by laparoscopy. The smaller fibroid is hanging on a stalk (pedunculated) while the larger fibroid, growing from the top uterus is attached to the uterus by a broad base. The red dot light indicates the laser beam utilized in the resection of the fibroids.
7. Laparoscopic Removal Of Six Fibroids A video showing removal of a total of six fibroids, including pedunculated, subserosal and intramural types. The laser beam, demonstrated by the red dot , is utilized to make an incision in the uterine muscle, exposing and removing the fibroids.
8. Laparoscopic Removal Of a Parasitic Fibroid A short video demonstrating removal of a "parasitic" fibroid which has completely seperated from the uterus and became atttached to the intestinal wall.
9. Laparoscopic Resection of a Broad Ligament Fibroid This video demonstrates removal of a fibroid growing in the lower uterine segment. The fibroid is the elongated bulge to the left of the uterus and is accessed via cutting the layer over the fibroid with a laser beam. The fibroid is then held with a grasper and is removed from the abdominal cavity by a power tool (Morcellator) through a small 1/2 inch incision in the abdomen.
